Who Can Refer

We accept referrals from:

  • General Practitioners, other Medical/Dental Specialists, Sports Doctors, Physiotherapists, Sports Trainers, and Coaches
  • Dentist or other Medical/Dental Specialist will be valid with Medicare for rebates.


These referrals are eligible for Medicare Rebates and are valid for 12 months from date of referral.


We also accept referrals from Medical Specialists. These referrals are eligible for Medicare Rebates and are valid for 3 months from date of referral.

Patients may also refer themselves , but patients who attend without an approved referral will not receive as great a rebate from Medicare for their initial consultation fee.


Argus Referral Process

Our team takes pride in ensuring the referral process to our practice is a seamless experience. Referrals can be sent via

  • Argus to XXXX@argus.net.au (preferred) or
  • Fax to (0X) XXXX XXXX.


Rapid Access Appointments (within 24-48 hours) are available to patients with a confirmed or strongly suspected diagnosis of [CONDITIONS].

 

Our team will contact the patient with an appointment time. If you prefer to arrange an appointment on your patient's behalf, please call on [(0X) XXXX XXXX].

 

How to Make a Referral

A referral letter can be sent directly to us using the following methods:

We will contact your patient(s) to book an appointment once the referral has been received.

Group Referrals

If you’re making a referral for an infertility related treatment or advice, please ensure the patient and her/his partner’s names are both on the referral to ensure they can both maximise their Medicare rebate for the consultation.

Urgent Referrals

When emergencies occur you can feel confident that Urgent Care is nearby. We offer a specialised service to patients who require immediate care. 


Urgent patients will be seen as soon as possible. If using a Fax or Email, please highlight your communication as
URGENT.


Urgent referred patients can benefit by:

  • Onsite Diagnostics - Imaging facilities and pathology are available onsite and can be accessed without undue delay,
  • Quick Assessment - Quick evaluation with an expert assessment,
  • Clear Explanation - Discuss with your patient their treatment options,
  • Early Treatment - Timely treatment can be offered to help with an optimal outcome.

We encourage direct surgeon access.  Using various channels of communication where possible we seek to enable our referrers to ask questions about specific cases either before a referral or during their care.

During Normal Hours

If you need to speak to me for any reason please call or email the practice. Our staff will provide you with my mobile number or personal email address.


Please be aware that I may be operating and hence may not be able to answer immediately. However, I will always get back to you as soon as I can. We can also offer instant chat access for advice and referrals.

We run educational talks and seminars for individuals or groups. We have added below some of this content in abbreviated formats for you to review.


If you would like a tailored presentation please contact us and will arrange a time. 


We can also arrange less formal presentations on topics you choose and present them using a teleconference software if preferred.


Practice visits are also available, we would be happy to arrange a practice update visit or a practice tour upon request. Visits can be accommodated Monday to Friday with some exceptions made for outside of office hours visits. Please contact us.

Common Questions 

  • How long does it take to get an appointment?

    We will see most patients within 2 weeks of referral. Rapid Access Appointments (within 24-48 hours) are available to patients with a confirmed or strongly suspected diagnosis of breast cancer or melanoma. we have regular operating lists at all 3 private hospitals and waiting times for surgery are 1 to 2 weeks. 

  • Which hospitals do our Doctors operate at?

    Our doctors operate in the private system, also operates in the public system 

  • Does the practice bulk bill?

    There is an initial consultation fee to see our doctors in the consulting rooms 

    There are reduced rates for Pensioners and Health Care cardholders. 

    Follow-up consultations are bulk-billed. 

    Our doctors also run a fortnightly bulk-billing clinic

  • Does we provide GP Education sessions?

    Yes. we meet local GPs and can visit your practice for a Lunch & Learn session. Please contact the practice to arrange. 

    You may also wish to subscribe to GP Update, our newsletter for general practitioners. 

  • What investigations are required for patients with a new diagnosis of breast cancer?

    Breast imaging (mammogram and ultrasound) and biopsy are the standard ‘minimum’ investigations. Our doctor will arrange further investigations (including blood tests and staging scans) if required.  

  • Does we see patients for cosmetic surgery?

    No. we do not perform routine cosmetic surgery. If a patient has a concern regarding her breasts on the background of previous cosmetic surgery,We are happy to assess them and treat as appropriate. 

  • Does we offer a Rapid Access Endoscopy service?

    Yes. The Rapid Access Endoscopy service allows eligible patients to have both consultation and endoscopy on the same day. Procedures are performed within 2 weeks of referral.
